Ohne vorhandene Hindernisse gelangt der Schalldruckpegel bei seiner Ausbreitung direkt von der Schallquelle zum Hörer. Wird der Schall z.B. durch Wände reflektiert, spricht man von Diffusschall. Der Pegel des Direktschalls nimmt mit zunehmendem Abstand zur Schallquelle ab, während er beim Diffusschall gleich bleibt.
